It's really happening,Philippines Archives trainers.
It's only been a matter of weeks since Ditto arrived in Pokémon Go and captured our hearts with his sweet little blobby face. Now even more creatures are going to be released into the game.
SEE ALSO: Here's how you can finally catch Ditto in 'Pokémon Go'On Wednesday, following rumors that sprang up on Reddit in light of what appeared to be a leaked Starbucks staff memo referencing "new Pokémon", the official Pokémon Twitter account posted this:
This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
Yep: it's official. We may not have too much information to work with at the moment, but next Monday we'll know more.
"The Pokémon Company International and Niantic, Inc. will reveal details on December 12 about the addition of more Pokémon to Pokémon GO, one of the most popular mobile games of the year," said a press release sent to Mashable. "Stay tuned, Trainers!"
Until 12 December, the company is holdings its cards pretty close to its chest. The following statement from John Hanke and the Pokémon Go team was also published on the Pokémon Go blog, but despite being lengthier was still fairly light on info.
"Trainers,
As we race towards 2017, we wanted to take a moment and thank you for your support. We’re excited for December because we have a few new experiences and in-game events planned for you before wrapping up the year. While we cannot share all the details yet, keep an eye out on our social media channels on December 12th for details about the first addition of more Pokémon into Pokémon GO."
At this stage there are basically two possibilities: 1) the game will release some, or all, of the legendary Pokémon from generation one (Articuno, Zapdoes, Moltres, Mewto and Mew), or 2) they're going to release the second generation (which contains a full 100 new Pokémon).
Both of these things are going to happen at some point. The code for the legendaries is already in the game, and the code for generation two was added last month. It's just a case of which will happen first.
One thing's for sure, though: we may know more before next Monday.
The grassroots Pokémon Go community known as The Silph Road is currently mining data from the latest app update and will publish its findings on Reddit, probably over the next day or so.
