The new version is not entirely new, as the U11 with exactly those specs was initially available in Asia. But this release now means everyone can head on to HTC's website and buy a top-specced, unlocked U11.

The rest of its specs include a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 16-megapixel selfie cam, stereo speakers and a 3,000mAh battery, as well as resistance to water and dust.

As part of its "Summer Sunset Sale" event, HTC has also discounted its HTC U Ultra from $749 to $499; the HTC 10 from $699 to $399; and its Under Armour UA HealthBox from $400 to $219.99. Check out the sale here.
