Before996 Archives if you wanted to leave a message for the president, you could call up the White House switchboard.
There you could voice your grievances, worries, and praise by actually dialing a number and talking to someone, or at least someone who could connect you to the appropriate office.
But now, when calling the public lines to either leave comments or get connected to the switchboard, there is a different recorded message.

But that's not all; instead, it urges the caller to send the president an online comment. At that point it gives you two options.
First, you can go to the White House website and leave an online comment. The second is for the more social media-savvy. It asks commenters to head to the White House Facebook page and leave comments via Messenger.
A reporter pointed out the Facebook redirect message Monday on Twitter, but it looks like the comments line was closed during the last few week's of Obama's presidency.
On Twitter, posts from early January mentioned the closed line and the Washington Times reported the line was not working more than a week ago, before Donald Trump took office.
Mashable reached out to the White House to find out if or when the comments line would reopen, but have yet to hear back. (Maybe we should message them on Facebook.)

The switchboard line (202-456-1414) helps connect you with other federal government offices, or sends you to the comment line. (For those really living in the past, it tells rotary phone users to stay on the line to be directed to an operator.)
A Pew Research Center study from September found 13 percent of Americans don't use the internet -- a major barrier to leaving Trump a message online.
