The film, which centres on a creepy cymbal-banging monkey toy associated with gruesome deaths, uses King's 1980 short story for its inspiration.
The verdict, which the author posted recently on Threads? Well, it certainly sound like the film made an impact.

"You've never seen anything like THE MONKEY. It's batshit insane," wrote King. "As someone who has indulged in batshittery from time to time, I say that with admiration."
