She-Hulk: Attorney at Lawgives us the Marvel Cinematic Universe's greatest onscreen couple yet: Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany),modern eroticism aka She-Hulk, and Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), aka Daredevil. The chemistry between these two superpowered lawyers is off the charts in the show's eighth episode, "Ribbit and Rip It," so much so that Jen specifically asks Marvel overlord K.E.V.I.N. to add Daredevil back for the finale. Who can blame her?
While Jen insists to her family that Matt is only in Los Angeles for a week before returning to New York, it's all too easy to hope that they'll have more time together. Sharing that hope is Kat Coiro, who directed the majority of She-Hulk's episodes, including "Ribbit and Rip It."
SEE ALSO: Madisynn and Wong were almost in the 'She-Hulk' finale — but not where you thinkWhen asked about a potential She-Hulk Season 2 in a video interview with Mashable, Coiro's first instinct was to discuss Matt and Jen and a possible reunion outside She-Hulk.
"I love the chemistry between Jennifer Walters and Matt Murdock," Coiro said. "He has his own series coming up, and so I think it would be amazing to see her pop in and out there."
Coiro also touched on the pressures of introducing Daredevil in his first official MCU appearance. (His original Netflix series exists in a somewhat grey area of canon.) According to her, his arrival in She-Hulk offered a great opportunity for a tonal shift.
"['Ribbit and Rip It'] is a really fun outlier of an episode because the rest of the series, although it has action, is really about the behind the scenes normal life of a superhero," Coiro said. "This episode takes us into that high-octane action-packed MCU fare that we're used to."
A highly effective tribute to the original Daredevil comes in the episode's climax, which sees Matt fight his way through a hallway full of villains — something he's done before in several fan-favourite scenes in his Netflix show. Coiro and cinematographer Florian Ballhaus rewatched the Daredevil hallways many, many times to prepare to shoot this fight.
"We wanted to draw from that and pay respect to everything that had come before, but also put it squarely into our show," Coiro said. The She-Hulk twist on the hallway fight? Jen smashes through the ceiling and takes out the remaining villains in one fell swoop.
Jen and Matt may have very different fighting styles, as seen in the hallway fight, but boy do they work well together. (They're just great together, you know?) Fingers crossed we'll get a Jen cameo in Daredevil: Born Again... or more Matt in a potential She-Hulk Season 2.
All episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law are now streaming on Disney+.
