In a huge win for body positivity,One on One Lessons Where You Learn Through Hands on Caressing supermodel Ashley Graham now has her own Barbie.
Widely known for promoting self-acceptance and female empowerment, the model unveiled her one-of-a-kind doll at Glamour's 'Women of the Year' summit in Los Angeles on Monday.
“I’m thrilled Barbie has not only evolved their product, but also has continued to honor women who are pushing boundaries," Graham said in a statement, "We need to work together to redefine the global image of beauty and continue to push for a more inclusive world."
The Sports Illustrated: Swimsuitcover model was hands-on when it came to her Barbie's build.
"It was important that the Barbie resembled me as much as possible," she told The Hollywood Reporter, “She had to have her thighs touch. No ands, ifs or buts about it."
"I asked for cellulite but obviously plastic and cellulite don’t go hand in hand,” she continued.
"The thighs touching was one way to show young girls that it's OK for your thighs to touch, despite society saying that a 'thigh gap' is more beautiful," Graham explained.
Mattel, in a push for inclusivity, debuted their dolls with three new body types in January: tall, curvy and petite, along with a more expansive range of skin tones, 22 eye colors and 24 hairstyles.
Graham remembers feeling excluded by her Barbie dolls growing up, and is thrilled to be a part of the brand's more inclusive and diverse future.
"Now every girl doeslook like Barbie," the model said to The Hollywood Reporter, "It's not an unattainable thing."
Graham's doll is the latest Mattel's "Shero" series, joining the honors of other Hollywood women like: Zendaya, Kristin Chenoweth, Gabby Douglas, Misty Copeland and Emmy Rossum.
