Johnson would say to Trump, and it's not prettyAccording to The New York Times, legendary theater director Ivo van Hove is slated to direct the play, based on an adapted screenplay by Lee Hall ("Billy Elliot"). The show is scheduled to open to the public in November.
Peter Finch originally played Beale, and was recognized with the Academy Award's first posthumous Oscar award for his portrayal of the anchorman-gone-mad.
Its most remarkable scene features a powerful monologue from Beale yelling about the injustices of the world and urging viewers to reject these as normal occurrences.
It's strikingly timely, considering the protests and political engagement happening across the country today.
"I'm not going to leave you alone. I want you to get mad," Finch, as Beale, yells in the film. "I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflations and the crying in the street. All I know is that first, you've got to get mad. You've got to say 'I'm a human being, goddamnit. My life has value.'"
Cranston bellowing the infamous words, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore" would really be the icing on the foul-tasting cake that is 2017 thus far.
