Amidst the politics, the breaking news, and the ice-cold takes that clog my social feeds lies a beacon of unwavering positivity: the singer, dancer, and actress Britney Spears.
In 2018, our social media hero is none other than the woman who ruled the early 2000s, and who once slayed the game in pig-tail braids and a school uniform. We're surprised too, but here we are.

Unlike celebrities who use their social platforms to present strategically planned, overly filtered versions of themselves at their very best, Spears uses Instagram to be unapologetically herself. And if you're not following her, you're missing out.
If you still need some convincing, here are five things Britney's profile has to offer:
If there's one thing I've learned from following Britney on Instagram, it's this: The world is her runway, and we're her audience.
A highlight of the singer's Instagram account is her knack for taking #OOTD posts to a new level with short Instagram films that show her modeling clothes in her enormous home, on her balcony, or wherever she damn well pleases. Here's a look at one of her early performance pieces, captioned, "Just doing my own runway show 🌺🌺🌺."

Like many of us, Spears tries on a variety of outfits when attempting to decide what to wear. But unlike mere mortals, she treats the task of getting dressed like a full-on fashion show.
The short fashion films have become a staple of Spears' Instagram, and since 2017 they've only improved.
While we don't know whether it's an assistant or a patient family member behind the camera, what we do know is that the videos are edited to feature multiple looks and music, resulting in magical and hilarious looping fashion shows. It's extra in the best possible way.

Another truly fascinating component of the star's Instagram page is when she shares clips of herself working out or practicing dance choreography.
As I'm sure you can imagine, the workout videos are just as energetic and bubbly as her fashion videos — complete with different camera angles, motivating music, and great captions like, "Who doesn't love to twirl all day??"

Though Spears often flies solo to work up a sweat, she'll occasionally team up with her boyfriend, personal trainer Sam Asghari. Couple goals? Honestly, maybe.

After all those high-energy activities, Spears occasionally likes to unwind by painting, playing with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, or some combination of the two. They paint, they play tag in the yard, they do it all!
Britney's not a regular mom, she's a cool mom!

A celebrity Instagram account is nothingwithout the occasional throwback, and Britney definitely delivers in the #TBT department.
The singer shares photos of old performances, music videos, photo shoots, childhood recitals, SNLsketches, and even stunningly awkward photos of that one time she presented an award with Matthew Perry, a.k.a. Chandler Bing.

While the majority of Spears' Instagram account focuses on herself, a small portion of her posts are dedicated to the most glorious, inexplicably random shit imaginable.
Sometimes the singer shares an aesthetically pleasing inspirational quote, which, like, we get. But other times she'll drop a Minions meme, a low-key gross-looking photo of nachos served IN A BOWL, an "awesome hat from [her] favorite Mexican restaurant," or an illustration of a fairy.

Though we have about a million questions, we're fine with not knowing the answers. From what we've seen, it seems Britney's just here to create fun content, and spread joy to her followers. And you know what? We're thankful for the mental break.
