It's been a week since Hurricane Matthew lashed the south Atlantic U.S. coast,OKASANNOANARU-02 but parts of the area are still drying out from historic floods caused by the storms.

Hundreds in the region were trapped by flood waters, sending rescuers out on boats, canoes, and anything else that could float to rescue men, women, children, and even pets in the affected areas. And the rescues will continue as swollen rivers continue to crest across the region.
Matthew has been responsible for at least 36 deaths in the U.S., 20 of those in North Carolina. Before striking the states, the storm ravaged parts of the Caribbean, including Haiti, where hundreds were reported killed.
