Just when you thought Snap Inc. had peaked by partnering up with Shark Week,Japanese sex movies the platform announced it's adding even more content in the near future.
The company on Tuesday said it is launching an overall deal with MGM Television, the producer and global distributor behind shows like Fargo(FX), The Voice(NBC) and Shark Tank(ABC).

"They are innovators, and it presents us with a unique opportunity to flex our development and production muscle in a whole new way. "We are excited to create content for their vast and hard to reach audience that consumes entertainment in a very specific fashion."

This marks Snap's first deal with a major entertainment studio. However the company has already worked alongside major Hollywood players to up programming on the platform.
Last year, the company struck a multi-year deal with NBCUniversal to develop and sell advertising packages, incorporating Snapchat’s expanded set of advertising products into its sponsorship, mobile and video offerings. The first short-form series to launch on the platform was The Voice on Snapchat. More recently, the platform introduced its first Saturday Night LiveStory.
Snap Inc. and Disney ABC Television Group also partnered up to create original episodic shows for Snapchat Discover. Their programming deal kicked off with Watch Party: The Bachelor,a complement to ABC's popular franchise. Several additional shows from ABC Television Group will roll out on Snapchat in the coming months, as the platform continues to grow its original, scripted and unscripted shows on its Discover platform.
Snap described its shows as "wholly original stand-alone programming from some of the world’s best storytellers, produced and shot vertically for mobile."
Each show is about 4 to 5 minutes, and includes concepts that are both new IP, as well as existing IP that are reimagined for a whole new audience. Shows are being developed for a wide range of formats, including documentaries, reality TV, scripted and unscripted, comedies and dramas.
“MGM has an incredible pool of talent -- from producers and directors to writers -- that we’re excited to tap into as we join forces to develop Shows,” said Nick Bell, Vice President of Content for Snap Inc., in a statement. “Partnering with a studio of their caliber opens up a lot of possibilities for the future of Shows on Snapchat.”
